From the President's Desk
I am looking forward to leading the Medicine Creek Chamber of Commerce through another successful year. What makes a successful year for the Chamber? Numbers? Is it how many people that attend the monthly meeting? Is it how many people attend the events sponsored by the Chamber? It is the increase in revenues realized by the businesses during events? It is great to have a good crowd at the monthly meetings, the more the merrier. It is great to see big crowds for the events and it is wonderful to have the businesses realize increased revenues a s a direct result of the promotions and vents sponsored by the Chamber that is what it all boils down to. However, I feel that a small community chamber of commerce needs to measure their success by seeing everyone involved in events throughout the year and by the amount of fun that is had by everyone sponsoring and everyone attending. That is what will make all the numbers take care of themselves.
The volunteers involved with the events that take place throughout the year are very dedicated to their community and this helps our community to be the best there is. I know I can count on all the members to do their part to make each event be a successful one.
~Jerry Wilcox

Goals for 2006
1. Increase attendance at the meetings to an average of 20.
2. Sponsor a successful Golf Tournament at Arrowhead Meadows.
3. Have all other events at least as successful as last year.
4. Support community improvement projects.
5. Last but not least HAVE FUN!!

Hometown Christmas
The Medicine Creek Chamber of Commerce sponsored the 10th annual Hometown Christmas on December 8, 2005. It was considered a success by everyone involved. Many businesses in Curtis held open houses with treats, refreshments and door prizes available. The Grand Prize drawing could be registered for at all participating Chamber businesses and the Hi-Line Enterprise held a special promotion for area gift baskets. A "Decorate Your House" contest was voted on by citizens as well as a silent auction of items at the Curtis Mall. The NCTA Collegiate 4-H Club provided caroling for the event. A free movie at the Star Theater was Well attended by the children of the community who were very pleased to have Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause visit with each child and give them a bag of goodies. The Junior Class of Medicine Valley High School also had a soup supper at the Methodist Church where there also could be heard Christmas tunes from the clarions.

Welcome Home
On November 8, 2005, the Medicine Creek Chamber of Commerce sponsored a " Welcome Home" Parade for Clint Hosick and Matt Hodson as they returned from their second tour of duty in Iraq. Clint and Matt are both with the Army Reserve 1013th Quartermaster Company stationed in North Platte.
They were met on the west edge of Curtis by Mayor Kevin Brown of Browns on a convertible owned by Steve Herman of Norman, Paloucek and Herman Law Office. The Medicine Valley High School Marching Band greeted them at the intersection of Center Avenue and Highway 23 with patriotic marches. As they proceeded north on Center Avenue they wee greeted by the citizens of Frontier County showing their appreciation for their sacrifices. More patriotic music could be heard from the Methodist Church clarions as they continued north and then returned to the American Legion Hall for handshakes and hugs. Many signs of appreciation were also displayed in the Businesses in Curtis.
